Prolific actor and movie director Kunle Afolayan , known for who his great works well-acclaimed films in the Nigerian movie industry such as Phone Swap, The Figurine (Araromire), and October 1 has taken his work into another dimension.
The Figurine which has won five major awards in the African Film Academy, experienced tremendous success in the Nigerian movie theaters and has travelled to various international festivals is returning in the form of a book.
The film’s story, according to a reports, is now being told in a book titled Auteuring Nollywood: Critical Perspectives on The Figurine, and due to be unveiled onJuly 31, 2014 at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
“This is a novelty”, says Kunle Afolayan, “We have always said we should tell our stories. But I believe it goes beyond mere rhetorics and images on the screen.”
Releasing one’s movie to scholarly interrogation like this is one of the next levels for the Nigerian film industry to climb and i am excited that this is already happening through my works”, he concluded.
