Several people have been injured and property destroyed following clashes between supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the Osun State governorship election.
The incumbent governor, Rauf Aregbesola, of the APC is up against Senator Iyiola Omisore of the PDP in the forthcoming gubernatorial election that will decided August and there has been a clash between the supporters of the two parties which happened in the state capital, in Osogbo.
With both parties now accusing each other for the violent conduct cconstituted by thier supporters.
The APC said the incidents were a reflection of the desperation of the PDP to capture the state by all means.
While Director of Media and Strategy of Omisore Campaign Organisation, Diran Odeyemi, said some leaders of the APC and members of the State Boys, a group of alleged political thugs funded by the state government, led the attacks.
The organisation said the coordinated attack on the PDP members was launched immediately after a purported rally of the APC.
It was also gathered that a number vehicles belonging to PDP members were destroyed, countless numbers of shops razed and looted and several members of the party beaten and attacked b with machetes.
