The Fuji singer, Malaika who has released over 20 albums in his career, said the fear of his mum remains why he can’t quit Fuji music.
Following a recent interview with The Punch, Malaika said, ‘I had thought of quitting so many times when I was not making money. There was a time in my life that I did not have more than two clothes to my name and I was still performing. I would go to beer palours to beg the owners to allow me perform.
Furthermore, he said ‘They normally agreed but told me that I would not be paid. My priority was just to play. I would borrow money to rent musical equipment, perform without being paid. I could not give up because my mother had told me that music was a very tough career and if I insisted on becoming a musician, I must not quit,’.
