AuduThe death of Prince Abubakar Audu, the candidate of All Progressives Congress in last Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State, has been described as shocking, by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Audu died on Sunday on the verge of becoming the next elected governor of Kogi State.

The APC candidate was declared winner in 16 LGAs while his closest rival, Governor Idris Wada of the PDP, won in the remaining five LGAs of the state but the election was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Reacting to news of Mr. Audu’s death in Abuja on Monday, the PDP said that at this critical moment, it would refrain from making comments on the conduct of the said election.

The party’s spokesperson, Chief Olisa Metuh, in a statement, said the issue of election was not paramount now, “What is important at this point is the sanctity of human life”.

“Our deepest thoughts and prayers go to the family of Prince Abubakar Audu and indeed, the APC fold.

“On this note, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, charges all PDP members in Kogi and across the nation to keep Prince Audu, his family and loved ones in their prayers, as we mourn with them and the people of Kogi state over this monumental loss”, the statement said.
