The Peoples Democratic Party has begun the process of wooing back its former prominent members from the All Progressives Congress.

The opposition party is said to have started reaching out to political leaders from the northern part of the country to lure them back into its fold.

Some of those reported to have been earmarked for a possible return are; Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Former governors whom the PDP is going after include: Rabiu Kwankwaso, Danjuma Goje, Aliyu Wammako, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, as well as APC Senators and Federal lawmakers.

After recently announcing the zoning of its 2019 presidential ticket to the north, members of the National Working Committee of the party had been having meetings with politicians from the region, who cross-carpeted from the PDP to the APC.

Among those being wooed are the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki; a former Governor of Kano State, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso and many others.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, confirmed that the leadership of the opposition party, was holding secret meetings with possible defectors.

“Yes, I can confirm that we have opened discussions with our former members who left us due to misunderstandings and were aggrieved. We are already having meetings with them and I can assure you that the discussions are going to yield positive results.

“But for the fact that some of these gentlemen are holding sensitive positions in the APC and in government, we won’t be able to mention their names.

“They are not happy with the Federal Government and some of its policies and they have decided to team up with us come 2019.”
