Bayelsa Election: Jonathan Delivers Polling Unit For PDP As Sylva Floors Dickson At Govt House Polling Unit
Former President Goodluck Jonathan delivered his polling unit to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in yesterday’s governorship elections in Bayelsa State just as the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate in the polls, Chief Timipre Sylva, floored his opponent and incumbent, Governor Seriake Dickson of PDP at the Government House polling unit.
NGTrends reports that results are trickling in very slowly, thus, it is too early to say emphatically which of the two leading candidates is ahead.
However, at his polling unit 039 Otuabula in Otuoke community, former President Jonathan led the PDP to victory with 118 votes against the APC’s paltry 14 votes while the PPA got one vote in the unit Two votes were voided.
At the Government House Front Gate polling unit, the APC carried the day with 58 votes against PDP’s 28.
It was learnt that results were slow in coming in as a result of the riverine terrain of Bayelsa State making it difficult for INEC’s returning officers to summit the details.
Notwithstanding, esults released so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) indicate the PDP cleared all of the three wards of Odi and also the units in Kaiama of Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area. The PDP was also ahead of other parties in Ogbia, Sagbama and Ekeremor and Yenagoa Local Government Areas of the state, it was learnt.
Other results already released are: Erigbe Compound Square Unit 003 Ward 1 Yenagoa – PDP (75) APC (44), Kemekrogha square unit 014b ward 1 also of Yenagoa – PDP (80) APC (33), Atissa I Kemekrogha Square Unit 014 – PDP (120) APC (57), Atissa Ward 1, Unit 009 Ogosi Compound Town Hall also of Yenagoa – PDP (116) APC (74) and Otuabula unit 039, in Otuoke – PDP (118) APC (14).
