Collation of the results after voting in Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State will begin at 6pm Sunday.
Public Relations Officer in the state office of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),Timidi Wariowei, announced this at 4pm on Sunday to newsmen and observers at the Yenagoa City Council Hall, venue of the collation centre in the state capital.

Results of the election are expected from seven of the eight local government council areas except Southern Ijaw where the election continued on Sunday after it was rescheduled following electoral violence during voting the previous day.
Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Konbowei Benson, was among persons who could not cast their votes due to sporadic shootings in the area.
Wariowei, who did not disclose how many results had been turned in from the local government council areas, called for understanding.
Journalists and observers had been  waiting for the final collation and announcement of Saturday’s governorship poll results since 8am before Wariowei’s announcement.
