The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has beamed its searchlight on former militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo over his alleged involvement in the N13 billion scandal trailing the former director general of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Security Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolekeimi.
Although details of Tompolo’s involvement are unclear at the time of publishing this report, it was learnt that the EFCC’s interest in the former militant leader stems from a N13 billion compensation Mr. Akpobolokeimi paid to some Niger Delta communities to acquire land for NIMASA Maritime University and boatyard.
Towards this end, the EFCC has invited Mr. Tompolo to its zonal office in Port Harcourt.
The invitation letter, it was learnt, was delivered to the residence of Mr. Tompolo in the exclusive Delta Estate in Warri, Thursday afternoon.
According to The Nation, the anti-graft commission could declare Tompolo wanted should he fail to honour the latest invitation after the previous invitation to him dated November 18 and titled: ‘Investigation Activities, Letter of Invitation’ was shunned.
