Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on Boxing Day, apprehended a 40-year-old man for drug trafficking at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
The suspected drug trafficker identified as Ikeh Maxwell Obumneme, was arrested for being in possession of substances that tested positive for cocaine, which he inserted in his anus.
The Commander of NDLEA at the Lagos Airport, Mr. Hamisu Lawan, told newsmen that Obumneme was arrested during the inward screening of passengers from Brazil.
According to the NDLEA commander, the drugs packed in six wraps weighing 120 grammes, was inserted in the suspect’s anus.
While reiterating the vision of the NDLEA to eradicate illicit trafficking in narcotics drugs, Mr. Lawan said the case is currently under investigation and the suspect would be charged to court soon as the process is completed.
