DSS Releases Faleke, Late Audu’s Son After 7Hrs Detention

DSS-OPERATIVESThe Department of State Security, DSS, has released the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in the November 21, 2015 governorship election in Kogi State, Hon. James Faleke and the eldest son of the late APC candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Audu.

The duo were held for about seven hours yesterday at the Abuja headquarters of the DSS for yet-to-be disclosed reasons.

Mr Duro Meseko, the Director of Media and Publicity of Audu/Faleke Campaign Organisation, who earlier raised the alarm that the duo were taken into custody after honouring an invitation by the DSS at exactly 10.00 am on Saturday, confirmed that they were released at about 5 p.m.

Faleke is claimant to the APC governorship victory in Kogi State and had approached the state governorship election petition tribunal to regain the Audu/ Faleke mandate, which he believed they had won at first ballot on November 21, 2015.

Faleke, who is the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, had also vowed not to work with the Governor-elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, or present himself for swearing-in as deputy governor of Kogi State on January 26, 2016.

In a statement yesterday evening, Meseko urged members of the APC and supporters of the politicians to remain calm and not to resort to any action that could jeopardise the existing peace in the state.

He also assured that Faleke would continue to abide by the rule of law to reclaim the mandate freely given him and the late Prince Abubakar Audu.
