NDLEA-Muhammad Mustapha AbdallahPresident Muhammadu Buhari has given approval for the appointment of a new Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, he is Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Engr. Babachir David Lawal, in a statement on Monday, said the appointment of Abdallah as the new Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, takes effect from January 11, 2016.

He also said the appointment is for an initial tenure of five years.

Abdallah, who hails from Hong, Adamawa State, takes over from Ahmadu Giade, who retired on November 25, 2015 as Chairman/CEO of NDLEA after 10 years.

The new NDLEA chairman is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Nigerian Army and holds a Certificate of Education from Nigeria Defence Academy, which he obtained in 1977.

He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in American Politics and Government from Sam Houston State University, Huntville, Texas, USA (1989), M. A. Public Administration, LLB and LLM Degrees from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 2005 and 2011 respectively, as well as Bachelor of Law from the Nigeria Law School (2006).

A professional security officer, Lt.-Col. Abdallah (retd.) has vast public service career spanning over 30 years during which he served in various capacities and strategic positions in the military.
