Fortunate Son: Davido Covers Fader Magazine

Yes! Davido, the Omo Baba Olowo himself is on the cover of Fader magazine’s March edition.

Davido who recently signed a contract with Sony Music opens up on how he dropped out of school in America to chase his music dreams, the struggle to rise to the top and his relationship with his billionaire father.

In an article titled “How Davido Became African Pop Music’s Fortunate Son”, the Aye crooner also speaks on the controversy surrounding his family and his baby mama and his perceived rivalry with fellow Afro-pop star, Wizkid and what is likely to follow after the Sony deal.

“Nigerian music is evolving, and there’s something about our music that’s easy to listen to. I always do a fusion—I take from here, from South Africa, from America. I like to take sounds from different places and bring it together, to be able to sell to people all over the world,” Davido says about his music in the magazine.

He further added,

“I know what kind of songs work. The music should have everything in it—Jamaican, African, American, everything. Something like Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba,’ it has a cool feel to it,”

The full article is on Fader’s website while copies will hit newsstands by March 8, 2016.

Fader magazine last year ranked Wizkid’s Ojuelegba as the 12th best song of 2015.
