Arsene Wenger was disappointed by what he labelled as play-acting by the Barca players during Arsenal’s 2-0 loss. The Frenchman felt their theatrics on the field of play induced referee Cuneyt Cakir into making mistakes.
“They are tricky and that influences the referee every single time. Not one of them goes down without shouting”, he argued.
One major was between Oliver Giroud and Barca left back, Jordi Alba. Alba went down soft holding his face when there was barely no contact in a bid to get Giroud sent off.
Then in the second half, it was Dani Alves giving his own drama and swearing at Mezut Ozil after a very fair challenge.
However, he noted that that did not impact the scoreline in any way, as Wenger was not pleased with his team’s performance, accusing them of being naive and “technically average.”
Despite his disappointment, th Arsenal manager insists that the Gunners will give it their best shot at Camp Nou.
“Barcelona are through 95%, but we want to go there and play. We will not go there and have absolutely no chance.”
