Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has declared that former Governor Rotimi Ameachi needs urgent psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
Wike said this while reacting to Amaechi’s appearance on a radio programme in Port Harcourt, yesterday, where he said: “You don’t accuse me of corruption, because I am not corrupt, you don’t abuse my wife and you don’t abuse my Mother. The last two persons are vulnerable and so need to protected. You go to this areas I fight back.”
Amaechi also said the Justice George Omereji-led panel of inquiry set by Governor Wike never indicted him. “But when the Government came out with a White Paper, they smuggled an indictment. We are waiting for them in court,” he said.
Angered by his predecessor’s comments, Governor Wike said Amaechi is monstrously corrupt. He said that after his litigation on his indictment by the judicial Commission of Inquiry, his (Amaechi’s) prosecution over the embezzlement of Rivers resources will take place.
