Leicester City are ready to splash the cash this summer in pursuit of CSKA Moscow hit-man Ahmed Musa, The Mirror reports.
The surprise Premier League leaders are in the market for a pacy forward in the mould of striking hotshot Jamie Vardy and have made the Nigeria international a priority target.
The 23-year-old Super Eagle comes with a high rating, and is set to cost over £15million to lure him from the Russian Premier League.
Leicester, on a shoe-string budget, would have to smash their transfer fee – £9m paid for Croatian striker Andrej Kramaric over a year ago – to bring the Nigerian to the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes aim to sharpen their forward-line with additional competition for places as Vardy has pretty much claimed the lead spot after his goal exploits this season, and Musa’s goal ratio of almost a goal in three offers exciting possibilities for manager Claudio Ranieri.
Besides, club officials consider him a good replacement should the in-form Vardy, who has found the back of the net 19 times this term, be snapped up by bigger sides in the coming transfer season.
And with European football looking increasingly likely next season, Ranieri could use the additional alternative and firepower to compete favourably on all fronts.
