The 40-year-old actress admitted in her new interview with British GQ magazine (May 2016 Issue), that it hurts when most of her fellow South African’s think she doesn’t love South Africa.
“I love my country. And it’s very hard for South Africans to believe that, because I left and speak in an American accent. I have a very, very strong connection to my country and to its people,” she told the magazine.
The Hollywood star says she have a pity party over that but she hasn’t given up on winning the love of the country.
“It’s the mother that might have abandoned me, in a weird way, but not all the way. I’m not having a pity party, but I’m constantly trying to win its love back,” she said.
