The bullet ridden of a final year student of the Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU), was found in a gutter at the front gate of the school’s extension.
According to reports, the student, Obrien Ibekwe, was found in a pool of his own blood in what has been described as a reprisal attack by a rival cult gang.
As well as the murdered Ibekwe, another student identified as Triple, was also shot at the back gate area of the campus and though he sustained gun shot injuries, he was said to still be alive and receiving treatment in an unnamed hospital.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Andrew Enwerem, has confirmed the two incidents, disclosing that the police had moved into action as investigations to unravel the circumstances was ongoing while a manhunt for the killers has been intensified.
